Orthodox Christians in Azerbaijan Gather for Easter Celebration

Orthodox Christians in Azerbaijan Celebrate Easter on the Same Day as Catholics
Easter services were held in Orthodox churches located in Baku and the Azerbaijani districts on the night of April 20. This year, both Catholics and Orthodox Christians celebrate Easter on the same day, April 20. This rare coincidence is explained by the peculiarities of different calendars. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ, or Easter, is one of the most important Christian holidays.
On the eve of the holiday, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev addressed the Orthodox Christian community with a congratulatory message. He highlighted the important role of the Christian community in Azerbaijani society, emphasizing the atmosphere of national and spiritual solidarity and tolerance.
Photos from the festive service at midnight in the Holy Myrrhbearers Cathedral led by Bishop Alexy of Baku and Azerbaijan were presented by Report. The celebrations marked a special moment of unity and religious significance for Orthodox Christians in Azerbaijan.
