OSCE Facilitates Border Treaty Signing Between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan
Bishkek – On March 27, 2025, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan took a significant step towards strengthening peace and stability in the region by signing a historic treaty on their state border. This momentous occasion was brought about by the joint efforts of both countries and was recognized on the international stage during a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council.
The Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the OSCE, Tolendy Makeyev, highlighted the immense dedication and hard work put in by both nations to outline and agree upon the border line. He emphasized the political will of Presidents Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon in resolving issues with friendship, neighborliness, and mutual trust.
The signing of the treaty was met with praise from the OSCE leadership and numerous participating countries, including the USA, France, Great Britain, the European Union, Switzerland, and other Central Asian nations. This momentous event was seen as a positive step towards fostering peace and stability not only between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, but also in the broader Central Asian region.
