OSCE Focuses on Diplomatic Security Over Military Solutions, Says Sinirlioglu

OSCE Emphasizes Diplomatic Approach to Security
In a recent press conference, the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Feridun Sinirlioglu, emphasized the organization’s commitment to ensuring security through diplomacy rather than military means. His remarks came alongside Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, highlighting the foundational principles that guide the OSCE’s operations.
Sinirlioglu articulated that the OSCE’s approach is consistent across all its initiatives, underscoring that the organization is fundamentally a security entity focused on diplomatic interactions. “Our foundation is based on principles. The OSCE is not a military organization; it is a security organization,” he stated.
He elaborated on the organization’s goals, which prioritize arms control and disarmament as central to its mission. These principles, according to Sinirlioglu, are the bedrock of the OSCE’s efforts to enhance security and stability in member states.
The emphasis on diplomacy as a means of conflict resolution and security assurance marks a deliberate choice by the OSCE to foster dialogue and cooperation among nations, reflecting current global challenges and the complexity of international relations.
With this commitment to non-military strategies, the OSCE continues to play a crucial role in maintaining peace and security across diverse regions.
