
OTOKAR’s Defense Industry Expertise Boosts Global Market Presence

Turkish defense industry manufacturer, OTOKAR, showcased its capabilities and unveiled its future armored vehicles at a press conference held at its Sakarya factory. OTOKAR, a subsidiary of the Koç Group, has established itself as a major player in the defense industry with its innovative vehicles. The company has developed and produced over 33,000 military vehicles, which are used by nearly 60 users in more than 40 countries worldwide. During the press conference, OTOKAR introduced its latest additions to its product family for the first time. The General Manager of OTOKAR, Serdar Görgüç, emphasized that the company competes with global giants in terms of design, development, technology, and engineering capabilities. He highlighted the increasing global recognition of the Turkish defense industry and the important role OTOKAR plays in this success. Görgüç also mentioned that the company allocates 7 percent of its turnover to research and development activities, with a total spending of 2.1 billion TL over the past 10 years. OTOKAR’s R&D Center, which includes state-of-the-art test centers and facilities, was also showcased during the conference. The company aims to continue offering its innovative products and services to both the Turkish Armed Forces and global markets while increasing its exports and contributing to the country’s exports through technology transfer and joint production with local partners abroad. Among the vehicles unveiled was the ARMA II, Turkey’s first domestically powered 8×8 armored vehicle, which offers high ballistic, mine, and improvised explosive protection. Another new addition is the AKREP II R, an advanced reconnaissance and surveillance vehicle with a low silhouette and off-road capabilities. Finally, OTOKAR surprised attendees with the ALPAR, Turkey’s first heavy class tracked unmanned armored vehicle. The ALPAR is designed to work together with manned and unmanned elements in the battlefield, utilizing autonomous systems and artificial intelligence. Overall, OTOKAR’s press conference showcased its continued commitment to innovation and its significant presence in the global defense industry.
