Kyrgyzstan Leads in QR Code Payment Integration

In a recent report by the National Bank, Kyrgyzstan has emerged as a frontrunner in the integration of QR codes into payment systems among the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The data from the interaction operator system revealed that a staggering 99.7 million payments were processed, amounting to a total of 141.2 billion soms. A significant portion of these transactions included state and municipal payments for services, with 6.4 million transactions totaling 4.4 billion soms.

The initiative to establish a unified payment space utilizing QR codes was initiated in May 2022. Since its launch, banks and payment organizations have collectively installed 60,100 QR codes at various retail outlets across the nation up until March 1, 2025.

This milestone underscores Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to embracing innovative payment solutions and streamlining financial transactions for its citizens. As the country continues to lead in QR code integration, it sets a precedent for other nations in the region to follow suit in modernizing their payment systems.
