Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek Encourages Taxpayers to Submit Income Tax Returns
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek recently spoke out about the importance of submitting income tax returns in order to promote fair competition and financial discipline. In his remarks, Şimşek highlighted that in 2023, a total of 1.8 million taxpayers who earned income from various sources such as rent, wages, and movable capital, as well as 2.6 million taxpayers who earned commercial, agricultural, or self-employment income, filed their income tax returns. However, Şimşek also revealed that over 400 thousand taxpayers have failed to submit their income tax declarations despite earning income. He urged these individuals to take advantage of the repentance provision in order to avoid facing penalties for non-compliance.
