Over 600 terrorists eliminated so far this year
The Minister of National Defense, Hulusi Akar, gathered for iftar with the families of martyrs, veterans, and their families at the General Mehmet Hayri Tarhan Barracks in Kahramanmaraş. During the event, Akar expressed his condolences to those who lost their lives in the February 6 earthquakes and their relatives.
Akar emphasized the swift response of the state to the disaster victims under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stating that all institutions mobilized to aid those affected by the “disaster of the century.” Turkish Armed Forces units were dispatched to the field to provide assistance in search and rescue operations, supply distribution, and security measures.
The minister highlighted the ongoing efforts of all institutions to heal the wounds and promote rapid development in the affected regions. He stressed the importance of protecting the homeland, which has been defended by martyrs and veterans for generations, and passing it on to future generations in a prosperous and safe manner.
Akar acknowledged the increased responsibilities faced during this sensitive period and reaffirmed the commitment of the Turkish Armed Forces to defend the country and ensure peace and security for its citizens.
In honoring the sacrifices of martyrs, veterans, and their families, Akar acknowledged that their contributions have played a significant role in the nation’s achievements. He praised the bravery and sacrifices of the Turkish army in various endeavors, from border security to counterterrorism operations, and emphasized the unpayable debt owed to martyrs and veterans.
The minister also touched upon the successful efforts in combating terrorism, stating that the Turkish army continues to eradicate terrorist threats both domestically and beyond the border. He mourned the loss of Medical Lieutenant Hulusi Elçi in the recent Claw Lock Operation and extended condolences to his family and the nation.
Akar reiterated Turkey’s position as a rising power in the world, citing its strong military, strategic geographic location, and modern defense industry. He emphasized the country’s progress under President Erdoğan’s leadership and the commitment to shaping a brighter future for Turkey.
Additionally, Akar highlighted the government’s focus on revitalizing Kahramanmaraş after the recent earthquakes, aiming to create a safer and more prosperous future for the city.
