Özgür Özel stresses the importance of removing trustees from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has initiated a corruption investigation in the case of IMM President Ekrem Imamoglu after the arrest of CHP Chairman Ozgur Ozgur and Dilek Imamoglu. Following the decision, Ozgur Ozel stated that there is no judicial control in one file, but in the other file known as the ‘Imamoglu criminal organization’, it was decided that the arrest will continue.
Ozel further commented, stating that if Ekrem Imamoglu is proven innocent, he will resume his duties as the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Istanbul. However, if the detention continues until the disappearance of the power of attorney, a member of the Municipal Assembly will be elected to fulfill the role.
