Özgür Özel warns against exposing members of the Yenidoğan gang
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel recently participated in the 3rd International Vestel Manisa Half Marathon in his hometown of Manisa. The event saw Özel starting the 5, 10, and 21-kilometer races alongside various local officials and politicians, including Manisa Governor Vahdettin Özkan and Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek. Following the races, Özel and his wife Didem Özel walked the first 500 meters of the 5-kilometer public running track.
During a statement to journalists before the event, Özel expressed his dismay over the ‘Newborn gang’ investigation, calling it shameful. He emphasized the need for those involved to be tried in the harshest manner possible, stressing that they should not be protected under the guise of ‘duty crimes’.
Özel also called for the nationalization of hospitals under investigation, suggesting that all assets of those involved should be seized on behalf of the public. He placed responsibility for the situation on both the Ministry of Health and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, whom he claimed appointed the relevant ministers.
Furthermore, Özel criticized President Erdoğan’s recent statements regarding welcoming refugees, questioning the disconnect between government policies and the concerns of the ordinary citizens. He urged for a more practical approach to handling refugee issues, particularly in light of recent developments.
Lastly, Özel expressed his support for Manisaspor, a local football team currently competing in the amateur leagues. He called upon the people of Manisa to rally behind the team and help them return to their former glory days in the Super League.
Overall, Özel’s participation in the marathon highlighted not only his commitment to health and fitness but also his dedication to addressing pressing issues facing the country.
