Pakistani Defense Minister Warns of Imminent Indian Military Incursion

Tensions Escalate Between India and Pakistan Following Kashmir Attack
Islamabad, Pakistan – In a concerning development, Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif warned on Monday that an impending military incursion by India appears imminent. This statement follows a recent militant attack in Kashmir that resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists, intensifying already strained relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
The attack, which took place last week, provoked widespread outrage in India, a predominantly Hindu nation, spurring calls for retaliatory measures against Pakistan, which is largely Muslim. India has long accused Pakistan of supporting militancy in Kashmir, a disputed region that both countries claim and have fought wars over.
In an interview with Reuters, Khawaja Muhammad Asif stated, “We have reinforced our forces because it is something which is imminent now.” He emphasized that strategic decisions had been made in light of the escalating tensions, although he refrained from providing further details on the potential Indian military actions.
Following the attack, India identified two suspects as militants from Pakistan, leading to Islamabad’s strong denial of involvement. Pakistan has called for an impartial investigation into the incident.
Defense Minister Asif confirmed that Pakistan is on high alert, underscoring that the nation would only consider utilizing its nuclear arsenal if there is a "direct threat to our existence." As tensions mount, the focus will be on diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation and prevent further conflict between the two nations.
