Turkish Parliament to Host Meeting for Solidarity with Palestine

The Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey has announced that a meeting will be held with the efforts of the Turkish Parliament to establish a platform for cooperation and consultation in parliamentary diplomacy.

The meeting, set to take place on April 18, aims to raise awareness among international public opinion about the basic rights of the Palestinian people. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to address the meeting, where discussions on the “Palestinian case” and opportunities for cooperation will be held.

Thirteen countries, including the host Parliament, will participate in the initial stage of the meeting to show solidarity with Palestine. The initiative, led by the President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, aims to establish a united front of support for Palestine.

Activities planned within the initiative include addressing the Israeli-Palestine conflict, advocating for a two-state solution, increasing recognition of the Palestinian State, defending the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and preventing human disasters in occupied Palestinian territories, especially Gaza.

The meeting in Istanbul will also see the establishment of the “Parliamentary Group Supporting Palestine” and the development of a roadmap for future actions. Joint declarations are expected to be issued by the participating national parliaments.

In addition to the official program, bilateral meetings between the presidents of the Assembly will be held to further strengthen the ties of solidarity between the parliaments for Palestine. This initiative marks a significant step towards supporting the Palestinian cause and advocating for peace in the region.
