Parliament Approves Final Draft of Labor Code

Deputies in Kyrgyzstan adopt draft Labor Code and implementation bill

At a recent meeting of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan, deputies have adopted the draft Labor Code and the bill on its implementation in both the second and third readings.

The proposed changes aim to modernize labor laws by allowing for employment contracts, work record books, and local regulations to be kept in electronic form. Additionally, it is suggested to establish public holidays and non-working days in the republic to better utilize weekends and non-working holidays by employees.

The draft Labor Code also includes simplifications in the procedure for terms of employment contracts and labor relations, such as the conclusion of contracts in electronic form and the keeping of digital work record books. Furthermore, there will be a reduction in the number of public holidays and non-working days, establishment of New Year and May holidays, and special measures for job quotas for individuals with disabilities and graduates of orphanages.

During the discussion, MP Mederbek Aliev emphasized the importance of considering reducing working hours during abnormal heat conditions. MPs Gulsharkan Kultaeva and Aisuluu Mamashova highlighted concerns about the salaries of personal assistants for children with disabilities.

These proposed changes to the labor laws in Kyrgyzstan are seen as a significant step towards modernization and addressing various issues faced by workers in the country.
