Parliament Continues Discussions – BRTK Reports
The General Assembly of the Republic Assembly has continued with the latest speeches focusing on higher education, foreign exchange, and economic issues. Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Hüseyin Çavuş addressed criticisms and highlighted the hard work of UBP women, specifically mentioning UBP Deputy Resimye Canaltay’s efforts for cooperatives in her region.
Sergeant emphasized the importance of support for women in various fields throughout history. He mentioned the government’s continuous efforts to promote cooperative formation and full-time education, promising to address criticisms regarding premium support for cooperatives at the next council of ministers meeting.
On the other hand, CTP Deputy Ürün Solyalı raised concerns about school fees and the challenges faced by parents, particularly the high costs of private schools. Solyalı highlighted the need for immediate action to address rising school prices and unpaid salaries of traffic instructors, calling for solutions to these pressing issues.
Meanwhile, CTP Deputy Biray Hamzaoğulları discussed public transport issues and the struggles faced by transporters and taxi drivers. He urged for measures to prevent illegal transportation and improve public transportation services, emphasizing the importance of stable foreign currency rates for the agricultural sector.
In another speech titled “Our Higher Education Story,” CTP Deputy Sami Özuslu shed light on the influx of students entering the TRNC through legal and illegal means. Özuslu expressed concerns about the ease of opening universities and the lack of accurate data on student numbers, calling for better oversight and quality improvements in the education sector.
