Deputies of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Inspect Construction of Bypass Road in Uzgen

Bishkek – 11:23, 09 July 2024 – Deputies of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan recently conducted an inspection of the construction progress of a bypass road in Uzgen, as reported by the Parliament’s press service.

The construction of the bypass road comes as a response to the reported traffic congestion in the city caused by travelers along the Bishkek-Osh highway. A project was developed to address this issue and construction work commenced earlier this year.

The project, which is being implemented through a public-private partnership, is estimated to cost $29.4 million. The 13-kilometer-long road will be 22 meters wide and divided into four lanes, according to construction coordinator Nurlan Sulaymanov.

As part of the project, two large bridges will be constructed over the Zhazy and Kara-Darya rivers, with lengths of 77 meters and 197 meters respectively. These bridges will not only facilitate smoother traffic flow but also redirect the rivers to free up approximately a thousand hectares of land for agricultural purposes.

Additionally, around 50 modern underground passages will be built for the movement of livestock and internal routes. Currently, 300 workers and 92 units of road construction equipment are engaged in the construction work, with the road expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The development of the bypass road in Uzgen is seen as a significant infrastructure project that will greatly benefit the city and its residents by improving traffic flow and creating opportunities for agricultural expansion.
