Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Reveals New Web Portal
The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan has unveiled a new official web portal, developed by Ulutsoft, to provide timely and high-quality information about parliamentary activities. Deputy Speaker Nurlanbek Azygaliev announced that over 4 million soms were spent on the development of the website, with funding allocated from the republican budget. The portal has been operating in test mode since January 1, 2024, and aims to automate voting processes. Head of the development company, Mirbek Okenov, revealed plans to automate voting, with an agreement with South Korea set to be finalized for the introduction of electronic voting by 2026.
Additionally, MP Marlen Mamataliev stated that discussions were underway to incorporate Face ID and Touch ID for voting purposes, with an $8 million agreement signed with South Korea for the development of the necessary software. If successful, voting will exclusively utilize fingerprint or Face ID authentication, and traditional paper-based processes will be replaced by tablets. The move heralds a transition toward more efficient and modernized parliamentary procedures.
