Parliament Probes Treatment of Uzbek Nationals Overseas

The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the parliament of Uzbekistan, has taken a step to protect the legal interests of Uzbek citizens living abroad. A parliamentary inquiry has been sent to Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov regarding this important issue.
The inquiry requests information on the measures that are currently in place to ensure the rights and lawful interests of Uzbek nationals residing in foreign countries. MP Alisher Kadirov made this announcement, although it was not specified whether the inquiry is in response to a particular incident or is addressing the overall situation of Uzbek citizens abroad.
This action comes in the wake of recent events involving the mistreatment of Kyrgyz citizens in Russia. Kyrgyzstan demanded an explanation from Russia after reports emerged of Kyrgyz nationals being targeted during a raid at the “Bodrost” bathhouse in Moscow. The Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Sergey Vakunov, was summoned to the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry and handed an official note requesting clarification on the incident.
It is crucial for governments to protect the rights and interests of their citizens, both at home and overseas. The inquiry sent by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis demonstrates Uzbekistan’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of its citizens living abroad.
