Parliamentary Committee in Ankara

The Temporary and Special Committee on the Monitoring of the Legal and Judicial Process Regarding the Earthquake established in the Assembly of the Republic is holding talks in Turkey.

The delegation headed by UBP Famagusta Deputy Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu went to Ankara for this purpose.

The delegation made its first visit to Anıtkabir, the final resting place of Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, before their first Ankara contacts.

The delegation, who laid flowers on the mausoleum in Anıtkabir and paid a minute of silence, then moved on to the Misak-National Tower.

Chairman of the Delegation Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu wrote the following in the Anıtkabir Special Book:

“Great Leader Veteran Mustafa Kemal Atatürk;

As the Chairman of the Provisional and Special Committee on the Monitoring of the Legal and Judicial Process Related to the Earthquake, formed in the Assembly of the Republic of the Turkish Cypriot people, who are a part of the Aziz Turkish Nation, who are united by putting all their differences aside around pain and suffering, we are in your high presence with our esteemed committee members.
The Turkish Nation was shaken by the biggest earthquake disaster in its history, which is described as the “Disaster of the Century”; It deeply affected the Anatolian people and the Turkish Cypriot people; Sadness has descended upon our country. A lot has changed since the 6th of February, when the earthquake took place; The earthquake took our citizens and our children away from us. As we saw the lost souls and the broken families, we realized that we actually did not know what pain was. We take it for granted that we owe it to those who lost their loved ones, to those who passed away with their dreams at a young age.
We still need your principles in order to relieve our pain, conscience and sadness a little bit.
As you stated while founding the Republic, “Justice” must be distributed “quickly, accurately and safely without tiring the people”. We have full confidence in the independent judiciary and high sense of justice of the Republic of Turkey, which is based on your intellectual revolutions.
While expressing our belief in the justice that will be delivered by the judiciary of the Republic of Turkey about all those responsible for the buildings that became graves for our people who lost their lives in the earthquake, I would like to give my word in your high presence, on behalf of my Nation, that we, as the elected representatives of the Turkish Cypriot people, will follow this process closely. Because we know that to protect justice is to protect the Republic and the Nation. As long as we live, we will continue to experience this pain together with our Motherland Turkey.”

In the delegation headed by Hasiopoğlu; Assembly Vice President and Committee Member CTP Girne Deputy Fazilet Özdenefe, Committee Vice Chairman CTP Girne Deputy Ongun Talat, Committee Members UBP Nicosia Deputy Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, DP Girne Deputy Serhat Akpınar, YDP Nicosia Deputy Talip Atalay and Independent Famagusta Deputy Ayşegül Baybars and Parliament Yasama Assistant Sevi Çağdaş Dayıoğlu.
The delegation is expected to hold talks with the Grand National of Turkey today and to go to Adıyaman tomorrow.
