Parliamentary Delegation Attends Cyprus Facilitators Group Meeting in Geneva

UBP Secretary General, Famagusta Deputy Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu and CTP Kyrenia Deputy, Central Executive Board Member and Foreign Relations Secretary Fikri Toros recently attended the “Cyprus Facilitators Group” meeting as part of the 149th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Meeting (IPU) in Geneva, Switzerland. Representing the Assembly of the Republic, the delegation engaged in discussions with other parliamentary members from Cyprus to enhance dialogue and cooperation.

The meeting, moderated by Swiss Parliament Member Laurent Wehrli and Portuguese Parliament Member Hugo Carneiro, saw the participation of various parliamentary members from both sides of the island. DISY Party Deputy Averof Neophytou, AKEL Deputy Aristo Damianou, DIKO Deputy Christiana Erotokritou, VOLT Party Deputy Alexandra Attalides, and Democratic Harmony Party Deputy Marinos Mousouttas represented the Greek Cypriot Parliament.

During the meeting, the delegates exchanged views on a wide range of issues and explored potential steps to foster collaboration. The Republican Assembly Delegation also had the opportunity to meet with the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, to discuss key matters.

In addition to the “Cyprus Facilitators Group” meeting, the TRNC delegation also took part in a meeting organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Parliamentary Union (İSİPAB) Consultation Meeting. Here, they had the chance to hear from the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, on important matters.

Following their participation in these meetings, the parliamentary delegation is scheduled to return to the Island tonight. These engagements serve as crucial platforms for fostering dialogue, cooperation, and understanding between different parliamentary members in the region.
