Parliament’s oath process: What to expect

The Turkish parliamentary elections have come to a close, and attention has now shifted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The elected deputies will take the oath of office, along with President Erdogan and ministers. The final results of the elections will be announced by the Supreme Election Board, followed by the convening of the General Assembly of the Assembly without a call. It is expected that the swearing-in ceremony of the deputies will take place this week.
The deputies will take the oath in order of their names, and MHP Chairman and Osmaniye Deputy Devlet Bahçeli will moderate the session as the oldest member. After the ceremony, the 28th term parliament’s first task will be to elect the Speaker of the Assembly. The application process for candidacy will start after the ceremony, with a voting period of 5 days, and presidential elections will be held through a secret ballot.
In the first and second rounds of the elections, two-thirds of the total members (400 votes) will be sought, with an absolute majority of 301 votes in the third round. If the elections proceed to a fourth round, the candidate with the most votes will win the election.
The Membership registration process for the Turkish Grand National Assembly will continue, and the newly elected deputies will take their seats. The eyes of the political world in Turkey will be focused on the upcoming proceedings that will shape the new government.
