Participants complete Mary-Tejen-Ashgabat Cycling Marathon in Ashgabat

The cycling marathon that took place in Ashgabat has come to a successful conclusion, with participants completing a challenging route along the Mary-Tejen-Ashgabat section of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat high-speed highway. This event was organized by the “Turkmenavtoulaglary” agency.

Starting on May 31 in Mary, approximately 60 cyclists from various regions of Turkmenistan, including members of the national team, took on the 335-kilometer long course. The finish line was at the Bicycle Monument in Ashgabat, where they joined a mass bike ride to celebrate World Bicycle Day.

World Bicycle Day was established in April 2018 at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, thanks to the initiative of Turkmenistan. The day serves as a global reminder of the benefits and importance of cycling for transportation, health, and the environment.
