Passenger Intervenes After Taxi Driver Cuts Off IETT Bus: ‘I Am My Own Police, I Will Take You’
A taxi driver and an IETT bus driver got into a heated altercation in the neighborhood of Şehremini on February 10. The driver of the taxi, Ersin Cengiz, claimed that the bus driver, Ali Güzel, cut him off and refused to open the door when he confronted him. Cengiz reportedly threatened to call the police, but was met with a dismissive response. Eventually, bystanders intervened, diffusing the situation.
Cengiz recounted the incident, stating that he honked at the bus driver after he abruptly entered his lane. After exchanging words, Cengiz claimed that the bus driver drove aggressively towards him, prompting him to exit his vehicle. He then struck the bus window in frustration. The confrontation escalated when the bus driver allegedly attempted to run Cengiz over twice before claiming to be a police officer.
The incident was captured on camera by both the bus and taxi’s onboard cameras. Cengiz called for the authorities to review the footage and take appropriate action. The altercation serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining composure and following traffic rules to prevent dangerous confrontations on the road.
