PGO puts an end to illegal sale of 11.6 tons of gasoline

Cases of sale of low-quality fuel have been detected at seven gas stations in Karakalpakstan, according to recent reports. The Prosecutor General’s Office Department for Combating Economic Crimes has been actively investigating violations in the circulation of gasoline across various regions in Uzbekistan.

In the capital city of Tashkent, 13 individuals were found to be illegally reselling AI-80, AI-92, and AI-95 gasoline at inflated prices. A total of 5.6 tons of gasoline in bottles and cans were confiscated as evidence of the illegal activity.

Further investigations led to the detention of seven fuel resellers in different districts of the Tashkent region, where 721 liters of gasoline were seized. Similar cases were also reported in the Kashkadarya region, where six “gray” gasoline dealers were uncovered, and 624 liters of fuel intended for resale were confiscated.

The largest illegal storage of petroleum products was discovered in Nukus, where a local resident stored 4,140 liters of AI-80 gasoline for “gray” resale. Additionally, a citizen in the Zarafshan district of the Navoi region was apprehended while transporting 2774 liters of AI-80 in a tanker truck intending to resell the fuel at a premium in the neighboring Bukhara region.

Overall, the prosecutor’s office has successfully curtailed the illegal sale of 11.6 tons of gasoline in recent days. Furthermore, Uzenergoinspektsiya and the Competition Committee conducted inspections at gas stations in Karakalpakstan, uncovering violations at seven gas stations where low-quality gasoline was being sold.

Laboratory analysis of samples of AI-92 gasoline purchased from these gas stations revealed that the octane number did not meet the required standards. Over 26 thousand liters of low-quality gasoline were sold by these gas stations, resulting in a significant monetary loss of 277 million soums.

Authorities are working diligently to crack down on the illegal sale of gasoline and ensure that consumers are protected from substandard fuel products in Uzbekistan.
