“President Aliyev opens new Small Hydroelectric Power Station in Kalbajar district”
President Ilham Aliyev inaugurates “Meydan” Small Hydroelectric Power Station
On May 27, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan visited the Kalbajar district to inaugurate the “Meydan” Small Hydroelectric Power Station. The 3.4 MW station, which had been destroyed by Armenians, was reconstructed by “Azerenergy” to modern and digital standards. The station is integrated into the power grid, and the SCADA control system was installed.
During the ceremony, President Aliyev was shown around the station and was briefed on the work that had been done. The “Meydan” Small Hydroelectric Power Station has a capacity of 10 million kWh and will provide a welcome boost to the energy needs of the region.
The President launched the “Meydan” Small Hydroelectric Power Station and shared his satisfaction at its completion. The reopening of the power station is a significant milestone in Azerbaijan’s drive to rebuild infrastructure in areas recently taken back from Armenia.
The reconstruction of the power station is part of Azerbaijan’s aim to strengthen its position in the energy sector and diversify its sources of energy. The country has already made significant progress in this area, with the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor, which supplies gas to European markets.
The “Meydan” Small Hydroelectric Power Station will provide a reliable and sustainable source of energy while also reducing the carbon footprint of the region.
