President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan visited the Lachin district on May 27 to attend the inauguration of a new substation owned by the Azerenergy OJSC. The 110/35/10 kV “Gorchu” substation includes a 110 kV switchyard and a Digital Control Center. It has been fully automated thanks to a SCADA dispatch control system, and two new 25 MVA transformers were installed in the substation.

The president was briefed on the work done at the station by the president of Azerenergy OJSC, Baba Rzayev. The substation will play a crucial role in the electricity supply of the international airport being built in the nearby area, Lachin and Kalbajar mega projects, and various residential, tourism, and agriculture infrastructure.

The “Gorchu” substation is expected to be a significant step in improving the country’s electricity infrastructure, and the efforts of the Azerenergy OJSC in this regard are commendable.
