President and First Lady of Azerbaijan inaugurate Zarislichay pumping station
President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration of the Zarislichay pumping station in the village of Dashalti. The Chairman of the Azerbaijan Water Reserves Agency, Zaur Mikayilov, briefed President Aliyev on the drinking water supply, sewage, and storm drainage systems of the city of Shusha. The project aims to meet the needs of 25,000 people until 2040 and reconstructs the water supply, sewage, and storm drainage system in the city of Shusha.
The city’s average daily water usage is expected to be 105 liters per a second. The city will be supplied with water from existing sources, Kichik-Kirs, Zarisli, and Zarisli water reservoir. A water purification facility with a capacity of 8,000 cubic meters will be built, including three water reservoirs, with the construction of one of them already taking place.
Moreover, the project also provides for the construction of a 24 km main water supply line, 44 km drinking water network, 42 km wastewater network, and 41 km storm drainage network in the city of Shusha. The new infrastructure management will be based on the Smart Water system, while the SCADA system will be used in the water resources management.
The authorities believe that this project will have a significant impact on the city’s social and economic development, and will ultimately benefit the people living in Shusha. The reconstruction of the city’s water infrastructure will play a crucial role in facilitating the smooth functioning of its various sectors, ensuring that Shusha’s needs are met, and making sure it can keep up with its prospective development until 2040.
