Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov Emphasizes Importance of Proper Clothing for Preachers
President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, recently discussed the issue of preachers and their clothing during an interview with the Kabar state news agency. He highlighted the importance of following national traditions and ensuring that preachers are well-educated and presentable.
In response to criticism on social media, President Japarov clarified that his intention was not to call Ulemas ignorant or oppose daavat (preaching Islam). Instead, he stressed the need for preachers to have a proper education and appearance when conducting daavat.
During a meeting with the mufti, President Japarov shared an anecdote about a teacher who expressed concerns about the appearance and education level of some preachers. The teacher pointed out that poorly dressed preachers with limited education may not be effective in conveying the message of Islam, leading to resentment from those of different religious beliefs.
President Japarov expressed support for daavat and emphasized the importance of sending knowledgeable and well-presented preachers to engage with the community. He also highlighted the historical role of Ulemas in not only teaching religion but also promoting education and science.
