President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Inaugurates Basketball Development Center in Istanbul
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan recently spoke at the opening of the Basketball Development Center, located on the grounds of the Abdi İpekçi Sports Hall in Istanbul. During his speech, President Erdoğan emphasized that the new center is a significant step towards Istanbul establishing itself on the global sports stage.
Erdoğan expressed, “We have not only constructed a modern sports facility but also a talent development center for Turkish basketball. Through our efforts, Istanbul will shine as a hub for history, culture, art, and sports.” He further highlighted the importance of the center in promoting youth engagement in basketball and contributing to the nation’s sporting achievements.
The Basketball Development Center features a main hall accommodating up to 10 thousand spectators, a training and match hall for 1000 people, and three additional infrastructure halls each holding 500 individuals. President Erdoğan hopes that this state-of-the-art facility will benefit the Turkish youth and basketball enthusiasts, ultimately propelling Istanbul to its deserved position in the international sports arena.
