President Erdoğan declares May 28 as the beginning of the Century of Turkey
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared May 28 as the herald of the Century of Turkey. Speaking after the first round of the country’s critical elections, Erdogan thanked his fellow travelers for their support and vowed to build on their success. The second round of voting will take place on May 28, just one day after the 63rd anniversary of the May 27 coup. Erdogan said that the People’s Alliance, which focuses on the national will and love of service to the country, will unite the country and create a better future for all. He added that Turkey expects service and action from its leaders and promised to heal the wounds of the earthquake victims as soon as possible. The president also expressed his trust in his colleagues and said that he would work to make May 28 the beginning of a new era for Turkey.
