President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Delivers 100th Anniversary Address
In a momentous event, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave his 100th Anniversary Address following a moment of silence and the recitation of the National Anthem at 19:23. The speech was filled with highlights reflecting on the pride and excitement the nation is experiencing.
President Erdoğan began by acknowledging that today is a day of great significance. “Our Republic, established on October 29, 1923, has completed its first century, and now embarks on its second century, which we refer to as the Turkey Century.”
The President expressed his gratitude to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and all the heroes who contributed to the nation’s history. He emphasized that the Republic is not an isolated entity but a continuation of the long-standing state tradition of the Turkish people. It is not a rupture but a new beginning, a sprouting of a magnificent treasure passed down for thousands of years.
Celebrating the Republic’s 100th anniversary, President Erdoğan highlighted the strength, richness, and deep-rooted legacy that the nation possesses. The Republic serves as a source of inspiration and pride, reminding the people of the sacrifices made to achieve it. As Mustafa Kemal stated, “The Republic was not earned for free. We shed blood to get it.”
Furthermore, President Erdoğan emphasized that Turkey stands as a helper to the oppressed, victims, and those in need. Turkey’s stance regarding Palestine and Gaza, as Gazi wished, demonstrates its compassion and support for these regions. A recent rally called the ‘Greater Palestine’ rally reflects this commitment.
President Erdoğan then touched on the growth of the Turkish population, citing the increase from 13.6 million in 1927 to 85 million in 2022. With optimism, he predicted that Turkey would surpass 86 million this year and eventually reach a population of 100 million in the near future.
Highlighting the government’s dedication to serving the nation, President Erdoğan mentioned the commemoration of the Republic’s anniversaries through various projects. These projects include advancements in healthcare, with an increase in hospital beds from 12,000 in 1923 to 164,000 in 2002 and 268,000 in the present day. The number of physicians has also shown substantial growth, with 92,000 in 2002 and 194,000 currently serving the citizens.
President Erdoğan concluded by sharing plans to expand Turkey’s aircraft carrier capabilities through an agreement with Spain, aiming to bring a higher version of the TCG Anadolu to the country. He expressed the goal of having a constitution worthy of the Republic’s 100th anniversary, aiming to rid the nation of the outdated coup constitution and safeguard its democracy.
The President proudly announced the nation’s service through modern railway lines, which now span 14,000 kilometers, including 2,032 kilometers of high-speed train tracks.
As Turkey commemorates its 100th anniversary, it looks to the future with hope, confidence, and a commitment to progress and growth.
