President Ersin Tatar’s Photography Exhibition Opens at Near East University

The photography exhibition titled “Through the Lens of President Ersin Tatar” opened today at the Near East University (NEU) İrfan Günsel Congress Center Exhibition Hall in Nicosia. The exhibition consists of 50 photographs taken by President Ersin Tatar, showcasing the beauties of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) from his perspective.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by President Ersin Tatar, his wife Sibel Tatar, Near East University Founding Rector Suat Günsel, NEU Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, as well as Presidential Administrative Department Director Osman Çağakan, Presidential Consultancy and Political Affairs Director Halit Bağman, and other officials from NEU. The event also saw the attendance of academicians, students, and numerous guests.

During his speech at the opening ceremony, President Tatar expressed his happiness in presenting his photographs to the public, emphasizing that “life is all about memories.” He conveyed gratitude to Serkan İlkseven, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, who played a key role in organizing the exhibition.

President Tatar, who pursues photography as a hobby, shared his experiences and interest in the art form, attributing his passion for capturing the natural beauty of the TRNC to his extensive work experience in the press and broadcasting field across England, Turkey, and Cyprus. He highlighted the significance of photography as a tool for storytelling and expressed joy in offering his perspective on the natural beauties of the TRNC through this exhibition.

NEU Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ also expressed his delight in hosting President Tatar’s personal photography exhibition, emphasizing the President’s longstanding support for art and artists. He underlined the importance of politicians engaging with art and society, stating that President Tatar’s involvement with the exhibition is a reflection of his deep connection to the arts.

Following the speeches, President Ersin Tatar and his wife, along with NEU Founding Rector Suat Günsel and NEU Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Şanlıdağ, officially opened the exhibition with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The exhibition will be open for public viewing until December 30th.
