President Fires Mayors of Karakol and Kyzyl-Kiya Cities
BISHKEK – In a recent development, the Mayors of Karakol City in Issyk-Kul Region, Farkhat Alzhambaev, and the City of Kyzyl-Kiya in Batken Region, Asilbek Matkalykov, have been dismissed from their positions. This decision was announced by the Press Service of the President of Kyrgyzstan, with Sadyr Japarov signing the orders on February 28, 2025.
Farkhat Alzhambaev submitted his resignation letter, while Asilbek Matkalykov was dismissed based on a personal application. The board meeting of the presidential administration, held on February 21, recommended the dismissal of Karakol’s deputy mayor, Gulnaz Orozova, due to improper performance of her duties.
These changes in leadership come amidst ongoing efforts to ensure effective governance and accountability in local administrations.
