President Japarov Tours Tokmak City Tire Recycling Plant

President Sadyr Japarov Visits Tire Recovery and Recycling Plant in Tokmak

President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, recently paid a visit to the tire recovery and recycling plant of Kumtor Gold Company in Tokmak city. The plant, which was put into operation in test mode in August 2023, is capable of recovering tires of any size, with rubber crumbs being produced from tires that cannot be recovered for use in football pitches and playgrounds.

According to the press service of the head of state, the full launch of the plant in test mode is scheduled for the end of 2024. Once fully operational, the plant will have the capacity to process up to 2 tons of tires per hour, recovering up to 2,000 large-size tires and up to 8,000 medium- and light-size tires per year.

This initiative is expected to reduce Kumtor Gold Company’s costs for tire replacement by 30-40 percent. Additionally, the recycled products will not only be sold in Kyrgyzstan but also exported to neighboring countries. As of now, after eight months of test operation, the plant has processed 900 tons of tires.

The tire recovery and recycling plant in Tokmak is a significant step towards sustainable waste management and environmental conservation in Kyrgyzstan. It not only contributes to reducing waste but also creates new opportunities for the utilization of recycled materials in various industries.
