President Mirziyoyev meets UAE Crown Prince to discuss investments and partnership opportunities

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting today with a high-ranking delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) led by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense. The purpose of the meeting was to further enhance the multifaceted partnerships between the two nations, strengthen economic and investment cooperation, and explore opportunities for collaboration in the defense sector.
The UAE delegation, which included key officials such as Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammad bin Abdullah Al-Gergawi, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohammed Al Mazroui, Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al-Marri, and State Minister for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Omar bin Sultan Al-Olama, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and conveyed greetings from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
During the meeting, the discussions centered around creating a new long-term agenda for mutually beneficial cooperation in various critical areas such as investment, innovation, green energy, infrastructure, education, healthcare, environmental protection, digital transformation, and tourism. Both sides highlighted the positive outcomes of the joint forum held earlier in the day, which explored potential avenues for deeper cooperation and resulted in the agreement to implement a “roadmap” for expanding collaboration in strategic sectors.
The UAE is a significant partner for Uzbekistan in the Asian region, with recent high-level contacts between the two countries occurring during the Global Climate Summit in Dubai last December. Bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and the UAE saw a growth of 21% in 2023, reaching $626 million. Currently, there are over 320 UAE-backed enterprises operating in Uzbekistan, with an investment project portfolio valued at around $20 billion.
Overall, the meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the UAE delegation signifies a commitment to strengthening ties and pursuing mutually beneficial opportunities for cooperation and development between Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates.
