The 150th anniversary assembly of the IPU is a historic event for Central Asia, being held in Tashkent for the first time. An agreement to host the event in Uzbekistan in 2025 was signed in Geneva in March 2024.

During a meeting of the organizing committee in January, Chairperson of the Uzbek Senate Tanzila Narbayeva highlighted that hosting such a prestigious event is a testament to the country’s strong track record in parliamentarism and sustainable development. The 150th IPU anniversary assembly officially began on April 5 in Tashkent, with its first plenary session held on April 6 under the theme: “Parliamentary action for peace, justice, and strong institutions.” The event signifies a significant milestone in inter-parliamentary relations and cooperation among participating countries.
