President Ratifies Changes to Law Protecting Entrepreneurs’ Rights

Bishkek – In a move to further support women’s entrepreneurship in Kyrgyzstan, the President has signed the Law “On Amendments to the Law on the Protection of Entrepreneurs’ Rights.” The aim of this document is to enhance state support for women in business, with a focus on improving access to finance and creating opportunities for increased female participation in the country’s economy.

One of the key provisions of the law is the introduction of the concept of “women’s entrepreneurship.” This definition includes entrepreneurial activities where either a woman operates as an individual entrepreneur or a legal entity engaged in commercial activities has female ownership of at least 51% of shares or participation interests. Additionally, the entity must employ women in at least 51% of full-time positions.

This legislative change is expected to pave the way for more women to actively participate and thrive in the business environment of the Kyrgyz Republic. By providing targeted support and creating a conducive ecosystem for female entrepreneurs, the government aims to boost economic development and promote gender equality in the country.

The signing of this law demonstrates a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in the entrepreneurial landscape of Kyrgyzstan, setting the stage for a more inclusive and prosperous future for all.
