President Tatar Meets with National Struggle Foundation Delegation: Emphasizes TRNC’s Status as a Fact
President Ersin Tatar of the National Struggle Foundation recently addressed members of the board of directors during a meeting in Geneva, emphasizing the importance of sticking to a two-state solution in negotiations with Greece.
President Tatar highlighted the failure of past federation negotiations and reiterated the need for sovereignty equality and recognition of the TRNC’s status. He emphasized that discussions should focus on protecting the gains made in previous talks, rather than reverting to outdated federation proposals.
In his speech, President Tatar also stressed the importance of collaboration with Turkey in presenting a unified front in negotiations. He called for the inclusion of the Foreign Minister of Turkey in future talks to strengthen the Turkish side’s position.
Noting the continued isolation of the Turkish Cypriot people by the EU, President Tatar advocated for the recognition of the TRNC through direct flights, trade, and contact. He underscored the reality of the TRNC as a long-standing presence on the island and urged for its acknowledgment on the global stage.
As discussions in Geneva move forward, President Tatar remains committed to advocating for a fair, permanent, and sustainable agreement that protects the interests of the Turkish Cypriot people. He emphasized the need to convey the vision of a two-state solution to international counterparts with clarity and conviction.
