President Tokayev Emphasizes Importance of Assembly of People of Kazakhstan during Anniversary Session
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlights APK’s crucial role in promoting unity and labor
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev underlined the significant and long-term impact of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan (APK) during its 34th session on April 24, which marked the 30th anniversary of the institution, as reported by Akorda.
The President emphasized that the daily efforts of the Assembly, though not always visibly apparent, play a vital role in enhancing unity. In 2024 alone, the APK organized over 15,000 events across all regions, engaging nearly one million people. He also commended the APK’s leadership in mobilizing volunteers during last year’s spring floods, where more than 12,000 individuals collected donations, provided humanitarian aid, and contributed to rebuilding destroyed houses.
Tokayev highlighted the Assembly’s role in promoting values of hard work and professionalism, particularly through its involvement in the Year of Working Professions. He proposed continuing the tradition of honoring workers at major enterprises on Labor Day, celebrated every last Sunday of September.
“Largely thanks to the APK, all ethnic groups in Kazakhstan have become active participants in the changes taking place in the country,” stated President Tokayev.
In furthering efforts to uphold peace, unity, and independence, Tokayev called for the development of a new strategic document for 2026-2030, focusing on enhancing social cohesion, harmonious development, and protecting ethnic group rights.
The President also proposed the establishment of friendship houses in various regions, including a center in the Almaty Region. He urged for media representatives to be involved in APK journalists’ clubs to promote unity in the information space and emphasized the promotion of unity in diversity through culture and art.
President Tokayev expressed confidence in the APK’s ability to strengthen interethnic relations and warned against any attempts to disrupt peace, emphasizing the importance of harmony, tolerance, and friendship in Kazakhstan’s daily life.
To enhance trust in international relations, Tokayev underscored the significance of people-to-people diplomacy, citing the APK as a model for fostering friendly relations between different countries and cultures to prevent conflicts and wars.
