Illegal Import of Frozen Fish Detected in Kyrgyzstan
Bishkek – 10:21, 01 August 2024 – The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan has reported the discovery of illegal import of frozen fish. According to the ministry, a total of 22 tons of pollock were found to be illegally imported from Russia into Kyrgyzstan.
The cargo, which did not comply with the veterinary and sanitary requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), was transported without the necessary documentation. The veterinary accompanying documents did not meet the standards set by the EAEU.
As a result, Veterinary Service inspectors issued a return report, and the illegal cargo was promptly returned to Russia through the Chaldybar checkpoint. This incident emphasizes the importance of adhering to regulations and requirements set by international agreements to ensure the safety and quality of imported goods.
It is crucial for all parties involved in international trade to follow established procedures to prevent the illegal importation of goods that could potentially pose a risk to public health and safety. The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry continues to monitor and enforce regulations to safeguard the interests of the Kyrgyz Republic.
