Price Drops in Uzbekistan’s Secondary Car Market

In February 2025, a noticeable decline in prices was observed in the secondary market for popular locally produced cars in Uzbekistan. The Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies (IMRS) conducted a study analyzing the price changes for various car models during this period.

Several well-known local cars, including Onix, Lacetti, Cobalt, Nexia, Spark, and Damas, experienced price drops in the secondary market. For example, the price of a slightly used Onix decreased by 0.1% from $14,865 to $14,850, while a heavily used Lacetti saw a 0.3% decrease from $13,500 to $13,461.

Luxury local cars such as Equinox, Malibu, and Tracker also saw fluctuations in their prices with a slight decrease in some cases.

In addition to local cars, the study also looked at the price trends of BYD and KIA models. BYD EVs like the E2 and Song Plus experienced price drops, making them strong competitors in the market. KIA vehicles like Sorento, Sportage, and k5 also showed variations in their prices, with some models decreasing while others increased.

The study classified cars based on their usage and production year, categorizing them as slightly used, moderately used, and heavily used based on their mileage and year of manufacture.

The data for this analysis was collected using web scraping from the olx.uz platform, covering over 20,200 listings in January and 18,500 listings in February. The focus was on cars manufactured from 2021 onwards, providing valuable insights into the changing trends in the secondary car market in Uzbekistan.
