Prime Minister Ünal Üstel Meets Saadet Party Delegation on Peace and Freedom Day
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) recently hosted a delegation from the Saadet Party, including its Deputy Chairman Mustafa Kaya and Mehmet Fatih Akdağoğlu, a member of the party’s General Administrative Board. The visit coincided with the celebrations of the 20 July Peace and Freedom Day.
During the reception, Prime Minister Üstel expressed gratitude towards Deputy Chairman Mustafa Kaya for his visit and highlighted the significance of the date. He stated, “July 20 holds great meaning for us as it marks the liberation of Turkish Cypriots from captivity. The 20 July Peace Operation is the reason we have a sovereign state on this island today. We are proud to commemorate this meaningful day by opening the new Ercan Airport, attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Turkey, and signing the project to bring electricity from Turkey to the TRNC via cable.”
In his speech, Mustafa Kaya emphasized the Felicity Party’s satisfaction in being present on the island on the anniversary of the 20 July Peace Operation, which took place 49 years ago. He pledged their commitment to fighting for the recognition of the TRNC and ensuring its rightful place in the international community.
The high-level meeting between the TRNC Prime Minister and the Saadet Party delegation underscores the continued efforts to strengthen ties and support the TRNC’s recognition on the international stage.
