Prime Minister Üstel’s Message for Persons with Disabilities Day
Prime Minister of Northern Cyprus Ünal Üstel has recently issued a message in honor of World Disability Day. In his message, Prime Minister Üstel emphasized the government’s commitment to protecting the social status and human rights of disabled individuals, including access to life and education.
The Prime Minister highlighted the significance of World Disability Day as an important opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges faced by disabled individuals and to work towards solutions to eliminate these difficulties. He stressed the importance of visibility and inclusion of disabled individuals in all aspects of society, including social, cultural, economic, and political life.
Üstel also emphasized the critical role of education, employment, health, housing, and support services in determining the level of development and welfare of disabled individuals within a country. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to implementing regulations that address the general problems faced by disabled citizens and providing support to private sector initiatives and non-governmental organizations serving the disabled community.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister announced plans to establish a Barrier-Free Rehabilitation and Life House, aiming to provide vocational training and support for self-sufficiency to disabled individuals aged 18 and over. He also highlighted the recent employment of disabled citizens in the public sector, marking the first time in 17 years, as a significant advancement in promoting inclusion and support for disabled individuals.
Üstel concluded his message by reiterating the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting disabled individuals and those in need, regardless of circumstances. He underscored the government’s pledge to continue providing assistance within its means and championing the rights and welfare of disabled citizens.
