Professional English Networking Program (PEN)
The U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan is currently accepting applications for the fall 2024 term of the Online Professional English Network (OPEN) Program. This program, formerly known as the E-Teacher Program, offers 8-week professional development courses developed by U.S. universities on a variety of topics related to English language teaching.
Participants in the OPEN Program will have the opportunity to enhance their skills in areas such as academic writing, online course creation and implementation, student motivation and engagement, critical thinking in an EFL setting, TESOL methodology, teaching English to young learners, grammar instruction, educational technology usage, and teacher training for the future of English language teaching, especially in relation to climate change.
Ideal candidates for this program should be dedicated educators, teacher trainers, or ministry officials who are committed to their own professional growth and are eager to share their knowledge with their peers. Applicants must be citizens of and reside in Tajikistan, not hold dual U.S. citizenship, have the ability to complete academic work at a U.S. university level (CEFR B2), commit 8-10 hours per week to coursework, have regular access to an internet-enabled device, understand English technical terms, possess basic technology skills, and be proficient in English typing for online discussions and assignments.
The deadline to submit applications for the fall 2024 term is July 15, 2024. Certificates and digital badges will be issued by the U.S. Department of State to all participants who successfully complete the course.
