Prosecutor General’s Office Exposes Massive Fraud and Mismanagement in Job Reports

In a recent review of employment programs in Uzbekistan, it was discovered that 764,723 new jobs were falsely reported, leading to accountability measures being taken against those responsible. The Prosecutor General’s Office also revealed that 52 criminal cases have been opened regarding the embezzlement of 4.2 billion UZS in wages and benefits.

During a briefing held by the Agency for Information and Mass Communications, Hayot Shamsutdinov, head of the General Prosecutor’s Office’s information service, provided updates on the actions taken to address these issues. Prosecutors have extended assistance to over 5,000 families listed in various notebooks, including providing housing repairs and newly built homes.

Efforts continue to protect the rights of women and young people listed in different notebooks, with initiatives to support their welfare and employment opportunities. The report from the General Prosecutor’s Office highlighted the employment of young people, allocation of land for rent, entrepreneurship opportunities, vocational training, and contract payments made to individuals.

In addition to the false reporting of new jobs, measures were taken to recover delayed wages for workers and address cases of embezzlement. Practical assistance was also provided to entrepreneurs and foreign investors through rapid response support, resulting in the restoration of non-operational businesses and prevention of job losses.

Oversight activities also led to disciplinary actions against individuals violating the law, administrative liability for others, and restoration of rights for physical and legal entities. Criminal cases were initiated for legal violations, leading to the recovery of damages to the state. Overall, these actions aim to ensure transparency and accountability in employment programs and protect the rights of workers in Uzbekistan.
