Tensions Rise as Protests Erupt in Istanbul Against Israel’s Attacks on Gaza
Recent events in Istanbul have brought attention to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, with more than 40 people losing their lives in a devastating attack on tents where displaced Palestinians were living. The tragic incident has sparked outrage among many in Turkey, leading to protests and gatherings in different parts of Istanbul.
In response to calls circulating on social media platforms, a group gathered in front of the Israeli Consulate General, boldly displaying a banner that read, “From East Turkestan to Palestine, the Ummah is one voice, one heart.” Mahmut Kar, speaking on behalf of the group, condemned Israel’s relentless attacks on Gaza, which have been ongoing for nearly 8 months. He urged for global unity in efforts to put an end to Israel’s aggression.
Meanwhile, another group congregated in Saraçhane Park in Fatih, holding Turkish and Palestinian flags as they prayed for the innocent civilians who lost their lives in the conflict. The emotional gathering symbolized solidarity and support for the Palestinian people.
Additional protests took place in front of the United States Consulate General in Sarıyer, where a banner declaring “Free Palestine” was unveiled. Demonstrators voiced their discontent with Israel’s actions, chanting slogans denouncing the country and its perceived alliance with the USA.
