The Orbán Cabinet: War vs. Peace – Key Issue in EP Election
The upcoming European parliamentary election will be crucial in determining whether Europe will be plunged into war or maintain peace, according to Tamás Menczer, the communications director of the ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrat alliance. Menczer emphasized the importance of this decision, stating that those who claim otherwise are not being truthful.
In a recent interview with public broadcaster Kossuth Rádió, Menczer pointed out that the left’s reluctance to prioritize the issue of war reveals their pro-war stance. He highlighted Germany as an example, noting the shift towards militarization with calls for conscription by German politicians, including the defence minister and the head of the European People’s Party.
Menczer urged Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to defend the country’s peace through diplomatic negotiations, emphasizing the need for clear support for peace and Orban in the upcoming June 9 election. He warned of the alarming trajectory towards war in Europe and stressed that the EP elections and the US presidential election in November were crucial in halting this trend.
The communications director expressed hope that electing pro-peace politicians in the EP and the re-election of Donald Trump in the US could potentially reverse the current pro-war direction in Europe. As the stakes remain high, it is essential for citizens across Europe to consider the implications of their vote and the broader implications for peace on the continent.
