Public Assembly Creates Task Force to Propose Legislation

Bishkek, 21 December 2024 – The Chairman of the People’s Kurultai of Kyrgyzstan, Myktybek Abdyldaev, has announced the creation of a working group that will be responsible for initiating bills and submitting them to the Parliament for consideration in the future.

Reminding everyone of the People’s Kurultai’s right to legislative initiative, the head of the National Council shared the members of the working group, which includes former deputy of the Parliament Myktybek Abdyldaev, Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic Cholponkul Arabaev, former head of At-Bashi district Bolot Isaev, Doctor of Historical Sciences Abdrakhman Alymbaev, Doctor of Law Urmat Amanaliev, Doctor of Law Bolot Toktobaev, Leader of Kyrk Choro movement Zamir Kochorbaev, and Eldarbek Sharshenbek uulu from the secretariat of the People’s Kurultai.

Additionally, presidential adviser Bekbosun Borubashov was originally included in the list but was later excluded at the request of President Sadyr Japarov in order to maintain transparency and avoid any perceptions of favoritism.

The third People’s Kurultai is currently taking place in Bishkek with the participation of President Sadyr Japarov and 700 delegates from across the country, along with other government officials and media representatives. The event is being broadcast live on national TV channels and social media platforms, with the Kurultai scheduled to conclude on December 21st.

Overall, the gathering aims to facilitate open discussions and decision-making processes on various legislative matters in Kyrgyzstan.
