Queen Wins One Billion Plays Award

QUEEN RECEIVES BRIT BILLION AWARD FOR BILLION PLAYS IN THE UK
Iconic British rock band Queen has been honored with the prestigious Brit Billion Award for achieving one billion plays in the UK. Presented by BPI (British Phonographic Industry), the organization responsible for the Brit Awards, the award was accepted by Queen musicians Brian May and Roger Taylor.
Variety reports that 76-year-old Brian expressed his gratitude, stating, “Thank you for giving Queen the Brit Billion Award. We are grateful to all our fans who support us and continue to enjoy our music. Rock on BPI.”
Queen rose to fame in the mid-1970s and has become a legendary figure in the history of rock music worldwide. The band made its debut at the Brit Awards in 1977, where they were awarded the prize for Best British Single for their iconic song, Bohemian Rhapsody.
Even today, Queen boasts hundreds of millions of dedicated fans. Following the untimely passing of lead singer Freddie Mercury, the band took a hiatus but later resumed its activities with Adam Lambert as the vocalist.
In addition to Queen, the Brit Billion Award has also been presented to ABBA, Coldplay, Mariah Carey, and the late Whitney Houston.
