Fire panic in a 4-storey building in Düzce! They raced against time
A frightening fire broke out around 21:00 in a 4-storey building located in Beyciler District, on the D-655 highway. The fire originated in the flat belonging to Şebnem K. in the adjoining building with 50 flats. The cause of the fire is still unknown, and it quickly spread, engulfing the apartment and surrounding the entire building and the area with smoke.
Thirteen people, including three children and three pets, were saved from the building by firefighters. The panicked residents sought refuge on their balconies while waiting for help to arrive. Fire brigade, health, and police teams were dispatched to the scene to assist with the rescue efforts. Düzce Fire Department teams used ladder vehicles to rescue the trapped citizens. One resident, Fazilet Bartın, expressed concern for her daughter-in-law’s brother, who she was unable to locate during the chaos. The fire was extinguished in roughly one hour, and it was later discovered that the young boy was not in the apartment.
An investigation into the cause of the fire has been initiated, and residents are left to deal with the aftermath of the devastating event. Fazilet Bartın, whose house was destroyed in the fire, shared her distress over the situation, stating, “We were devastated. We thought our bride’s brother was at home. We broke the door in a desperate attempt to save him.”
The community is left reeling from the fire, and residents are grateful for the swift actions of the emergency response teams that helped save lives. It is a reminder of the importance of fire safety and preparedness in the face of unexpected emergencies.
