Ramadan Drummers Begin their Nightly Shift – Breaking News
Around 30 drummers gathered in Kırklareli Şevket Dingiloğlu Park to prepare for their Ramadan drumming tradition. The drummers then spread out to different neighborhoods to announce the beginning of Sahur, the pre-dawn meal before fasting during Ramadan.
Ferit Demirören, one of the drummers, expressed his excitement for the start of Ramadan, known as the “Sultan of eleven months.” He congratulated all citizens on the arrival of Ramadan and mentioned how the first night always brings a special energy.
As the drummers played their drums, citizens emerged on their balconies to acknowledge the start of Ramadan. Demirören stated, “Tonight, we invite our citizens to Sahur through poetry. This year marks our 21st year of continuing this tradition.”
The drumming tradition during Ramadan serves as a reminder of the holy month and brings communities together to celebrate this special time.
