141 Measles Cases Confirmed in Mongolia
The National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) in Mongolia has reported that a total of 141 measles cases have been confirmed as of today, March 31, 2025. The outbreak began with Mongolian citizens who had recently returned from Vietnam on February 14. Since then, the number of cases has been rapidly increasing, especially over the last 14 days. The majority of cases have been concentrated in Ulaanbaatar city, Dundgovi, and Umnugovi provinces.
According to the NCCD, individuals aged 10-14 are the most affected by the measles outbreak. Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that is typically transmitted through respiratory droplets and direct contact. Although preventable with vaccination, common symptoms of measles include fever, dry cough, runny nose, sore throat, and eye inflammation.
Health officials in Mongolia are urging the public to ensure that they and their children are up to date on their measles vaccinations to help prevent further spread of the disease. Additionally, individuals who may have been in close contact with confirmed cases are advised to seek medical attention and monitor their symptoms closely.
Efforts are currently underway to contain the outbreak and prevent it from spreading further within the community. It is crucial for individuals to take necessary precautions and follow guidelines provided by health authorities to protect themselves and others from measles.
